Warrants of Apprehension

When an individual who has outstanding fines with SPER lives outside of Queensland, and has failed to comply, a Warrant of Apprehension may be issued to recover the amount outstanding. These warrants can be issued on any type of fine (infringement notice or court order).

A Warrant of Apprehension is addressed to all Enforcement Officers in the particular state where the individual lives, including Police Officers and Sheriffs. If you are contacted in relation to a Warrant of Apprehension, the Enforcement Officer will give you an opportunity to pay (without delay) the outstanding amount in full. Should you refuse, or be unable to do this, you will be arrested and taken before a Court at the next available opportunity.

To prevent a Warrant of Apprehension being issued against you, contact SPER immediately to arrange payment in full, or an appropriate payment plan to finalise all your fines. You can also use most correspondence sent to you by SPER, such as a reminder letter or Enforcement Order, to make payments at any Australia Post Office in Australia.
