The following information relates to outstanding penalties with the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER).
Penalties with SPER - as of 31 October 2009
Penalties lodged with SPER for enforcement relate to:
*infringement notices for offences such as parking, speeding or failing to register a dog. Infringement notices are issued by a range of agencies (known as administering authorities) such as local governments (councils), state government departments, hospitals and universities, and
*Court orders (orders heard in a Supreme, District or Magistrates Court) for more serious offences such as assault or drink driving. These orders can include fines, compensation, restitution, fees, and costs.

Total penalties under active compliance - this represents the number of penalties outstanding with SPER that are still within their time to pay, are covered by a part payment arrangement, unpaid community service order or another form of agreement.
Total penalties under active enforcement - this represents the number of penalties that SPER has taken enforcement action against once a penalty is overdue and not in compliance. This includes suspending a driver licence, registering interest in land or property, garnisheeing money from a bank account or wages, or issuing a warrant of arrest and imprisonment.
Number of lodgements for the month - this is the number of penalties lodged by Courts and Administering Authorities.
