Fine Collection Notices - Bank Accounts

If you receive an Enforcement Order and you fail to act within the time specified, SPER may order your bank to transfer money from your bank account to pay your debt. This order is called a Fine Collection Notice.

A Fine Collection Notice is compulsory and a decision to enforce your fine this way cannot be appealed.

SPER will send the Fine Collection Notice to your bank, or any other financial institution, and a copy will be sent to your last known address.

The Fine Collection Notice can order the bank to take regular deductions at a rate determined by SPER or to deduct a lump sum up to the value of your outstanding fines.

Attempting to defeat the Fine Collection Notice by withdrawing funds from your bank account before the deduction occurs is an offence. If you are found guilty of this offence you are liable to a penalty of up to $1500.
