Court Order FAQ
Can I make part payments on a Court Order?
If the order has not been sent to SPER, you should contact the Court where
the order was made to discuss your payment options.
Once the fine has been sent to SPER, an Instalment Plan can be arranged
by contacting the SPER Call Centre or downloading
the application and posting it to:
The Registrar
SPER
GPO Box 1387,
Brisbane, Qld 4001
Can I do community service instead of paying my fine?
If an order has not been sent to SPER, the type of penalty that you have been ordered to pay by the Court will determine
whether you can do community service. For example, you cannot do community
service instead of paying restitution or compensation that must be paid to
a victim of crime. To find out if you are eligible for community service,
contact the Court that made the original order.
Once the Court Order has been sent to SPER, you must contact SPER to determine if you are eligible for community service.
What if I don't agree with the Court Order?
SPER does not have the authority to withdraw or waive a Court Order. Any enquiries
about disputing or appealing a Court decision should be made to the relevant
Court or your legal representative
What if you want to apply for a rehearing/reopening for a Court ordered offence?
SPER cannot arrange for the matter to be reheard/reopened. You would need to contact the originating Court (the Court that originally heard the matter) to find out if you are eligible for these options. Refer to the Magistrates Court website for further information.
It is recommended you obtain legal advice from a solicitor or other qualified person regarding your options as any appearance in court could lead to additional costs.
